Our clients frequently ask what is required to start a new project, be it illustration or animation. We are expert at working from whatever information is provided. This may be as precise as detailed CAD drawings, or as conceptual as a sketch on the back of a napkin. In many cases, if source material does not exist, we can sketch out your concept from a verbal description.

We begin each illustration with a detailed digital proof that we submit for your review and comment. After your input, we refine the image in several successive steps until the final is completed. In a typical process, that process requires 2 to 3 iterations to complete the image.

The creative process that is used for animation projects is similar, but includes the development of a storyboard. The first step is to create the "actors" that are to included in the animation. For example, if the project is an animation of a new wireless router that opens up to reveal the technology within, then the project begins with the creation of the router, and the inside of the router, in order to get this part of the project depicted as accurately as possible. Next, we develop a Storyboard, which consists of representative frames of the animation, showing the unfolding of the action in an abbreviated fashion. After your review and comment, we refine this into the first "rough cut" animation, which is a simplified version of the final animation, with all of the action depicted. The rough cut is successively refined until the final is completed.
